Length: Up to 3.5 meters.
Weight: Up to 100 kg.
Life Span: Up to 13 years.
Range: Indian and Pacific Oceans.
Depth Range: 0–200 meters.
Feeding: Schooling fishes such as sardines, anchovies and mackerels.

Istiophorus platypterus is considered to be the fastest fish in the ocean over short distances, and can reach the speed of 110 km/h (68 mph)! The dorsal fin (or the so-called "sail") may serve as a cooling and heating system for this fish.
