Habitat[edit]

Dense, rich mixed forest in the Appalachian mountains, from valley bottoms to Canadian Zone mountain tops, where it replaces Papilio glaucus.

Distribution[edit]

Generally, the southern Appalachian mountains in the appropriate habitat. Known from the following states: Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia. The northern limits of its distribution have not yet been determined (Pavulaan & Wright, 2006).
