ITIS says that Myomys is the valid name for this. – linnea (talk) 16:12, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Myomys has traditionally been used for the species we list under Myomyscus, but the holotype of colonus *Brants, 1827), which is the type species of Myomys, is an example of Mastomys (Van der Straeten and Robbins, 1997), making Myomys a synonym of that genus. Shortridge's (1942) Myomyscus is the next available name.
Taxonomy remains problematic, but I think Mammal Species of the World is the best standard on Mammalian taxonomy. --Kempm 16:22, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think this genus is good as it is now. --Kempm 16:32, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Current Myomyscus is polyphyletic, but we should keep it as it is since there has been no major reclassification since MSW 3. Ucucha (talk) 20:11, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
