The genus Leptagrion was recently revised with the distinction between the "true" Leptagrion, with primary distribution at the Atlantic Forest and the Bromeliagrion mainly at the Amazon basin (De Marmels and Garrison). The Leptagrion genus comprehend 19 species, most of them with very few distributional records (Lencioni 2006;Machado 2006)
