  • This taxon is often treated as a synonym of Philopteridae, as otherwise the latter is or may be paraphyletic
    • Please remove this mark, it was made by a non-expert in the group. All the suprageneric names in chewing lice are disputed and those generic ones at least 1/3 of them are in the same way. All families in Ischnocera, but Trichodectidae, will be sunk into Philopteridae depending on to who you ask for this. All the references cited in the page support the Goniodidae (as well Heptapsogasteridae) as a morphologically and molecularly distinctable from Philopteridae, which still remains sensu lato.
