Reveal (2012) suggests this tribe should be Canarieae (undated) including Garugeae Marchand, Adansonia 8: 66. (1867), but he goes on to cite Canarineae Webb & Berthel., Hist. Nat. Iles Canaries 3(2,3): 1. (1844), associated with a diagnosis in Latin. – Type: Canarina L., nom. cons. (1771). (Campanulaceae), but this appears to be confusing taxonomically and contrary to ICBN. However, Thulin et al. (2008) do recognise these clades need more research, so this taxon page will remain until this has been resolved.
