This species may well be the tallest tree species in NSW with a stand of very tall specimens occurring in Cunnawarra Flora Reserve at the head of Georges Creek adjacent to New England National Park the tallest of which measured 79.22 metres. This is taller than the previous tallest tree The Grandis a flooded gum Eucalyptus grandis found at Buladelah measuring 76 metres. However, the Grandis has supposedly be remeasured and found to have grown since its last measuring and retains its title of the tallest tree. There may well be taller white gums further up the creek in the stand of The Nobilis but it is quite difficult to access.
