Talk:Cryptolepis (Apocynaceae)

The type species was originally designated as Cryptolepis buchananii Roem. & Schult., Syst. Veg., ed. 15 bis 4: 409 (1819). However, Marselein (2001) subsumed Periploca dubia Burm.f., Fl. Indica: 70 (1768) into Cryptolepis as Cryptolepis dubia (Burm.f.) M.R.Almeida, Fl. Maharashtra 3A: 221 (2001) with P. dubia its basionym. C. dubia has precedent over its synonym C. buchananii under ICN Art 11.3 due to this earlier basionym and furthermore it also then becomes the type species of the genus.
