Number of species[edit]
The Flora of North America treatment of this genus says there are "about 7" [extant] species. However, only three of those species are listed as occurring in North America, so it is unclear which other species are considered valid by the treatment's author. --EncycloPetey (talk) 03:54, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
