Many species shown as valid in this genus by Catalog of Fishes were synonymized or placed in Brycinus by Didier Paugy in his 1986 revision. Catalog of Fishes does not have this reference, which is more recent than the most recent references cited by CoF for most of these species. FishBase follows the Paugy revision. This page and those associated with it and with Brycinus follow the Paugy revision and FishBase. Koumz (talk) 18:01, 3 October 2011 (UTC)
