Synodontis serratus Rüppell, 1829

  • Holotype (unique): SMF 2649 (dry).

Type locality: Cairo, Egypt.

Etymology: The species epithet serratus is from the Latin serra for saw, and refers to the serrated pectoral spines of the species.
