Squalius pyrenaicus (Günther, 1868)

  • Syntypes: (at least 8) BMNH 1863.6.19.23 (1) and 1863.6.19.3 (2 spec. donated by MNCN, Madrid), 9.19.24 (1), 9.19.33-34 (2), 6.19.19-22 (3?).

Type locality: Mondego and Cintra [Sintra] rivers, Portugal.

Etymology: –icus, belonging to: the Pyrenees, mountain range separating Iberian Peninsula from rest of continental Europe, presumably referring to distribution in Portugal. (from The ETYFish project)
