Holotype: FFR 3047. Paratypes: FFR 3048 (12), 3049 (20), 3050 (4), 3051 (9); CMK 22400 (5).

Type locality: Turkey, Antalya prov., Alara Stream at Gündogmus.

Etymology: The name opimus, is a Latin word meaning fat, plump, opulent; a reference to the massive, deep body of the large adults.
