Type locality: Brazil, Amazonas, Rio Solimoes, beach on north bank of Ilha Cuera, near Tefé, Municipality of Alvaraes, 3° 21.21' S, 64° 39.59' W.
Etymology: The specific epithet duende is the Portuguese for elf or imp, referring to the diminutive size of P. duende. A noun in apposition. Gender masculine.
