Leporinus melanopleurodes Birindelli et al., 2013

  • Holotype: MZUSP 100987.
  • Paratypes: ANSP 199122 (2); MCP 36965 (8); MZUSP 111242 (8), 109769, 1, 109764 (6), 111227 (3).

Type locality: Brazil, Bahia, Nilo Peçanha, rio das Almas, approximately 10 km from Nilo Peçanha on road Corredeiras do rio das Almas, 13°36'27.8"S, 39°8'38.8"W [1].

Etymology: The species name melanopleurodes is from melanopleura, in reference to Leporinus melanopleura, plus the suffix odes, meaning similar to, in allusion to the similarity between this species and L. melanopleura.
