- Type locality: Mouth of Río Grande, Tierra del Fuego, Argentina.
- Lectotype: P.Dusén; 1896-02; TRH A9-449.
- "It is uncertain whether Tierra del Fuego refers to Tierra del Fuego Island or the Tierra del Fuego Archipelago, and it also is uncertain whether the material was collected in Chile or Argentina." (Woelkerling et al. 2005: 73).
