- Neotype: USNM 1249, ♀, collected by A.C.V. Schott (U.S.-Mex. Boundary Survey) between 1852–1853. [designated by Webb & Eckerman (1998: 104)]
- Type locality: “Eagle Pass, Texas, USA” via neotype designation, restricted to “Río Grande approximately 4.3 air miles (7 km) southwest El Indio or approximately 19 air miles (30.6 km) downstream from Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas” by Webb & Eckerman (1998: 102).
