Astrida caprimulgi Fain, 1956

  • Type locality: nasal cavity of Scotornis tossii welwitsclii Boc. (nightjar), Mohero near Butare [formerly Astrida] (Rwanda)
  • Holotype: MRAC slide No. 112407 — ♀
  • Type species of the genus Astrida

  • Astrida caprimulgi was formally described by Fain (1956: 33–36) after a first citation by Fain (1955: 696-nomen nudum).
  • Maintained in the nominal subgenus by Fain & Aitken (1970: 326) and by Skoracki et al. (2018: 403)
  • Holotype examined and species redescribed by Skoracki et al. (2018: 403-404)
