Andinoacara blombergi Wijkmark, Kullander & Barriga Salazar, 2012

Holotype: MEPN 11180. Paratypes: MHNG 2725.026 (3); NRM 13866 (10); BMNH 1860.6.16:153 (1); GNM Pi.ex. 3510-3516 (7); ZSM 22143 (2).

Type locality: Ecuador, Pichincha, río Esmeraldas drainage, 17 km downstream of Alluriquin, Rio Toachi.

Etymology: Named in recognition of the life’s work of explorer, writer, photographer, and filmmaker Rolf Blomberg (1912–1996). Blomberg, born in Sweden, made several expeditions in Ecuador and eventually settled in Quito, Ecuador (Repo, 2011).
