Alburnoides petrubanarescui Bogutskaya & Coad, 2009

  • Holotype: CMNFI 1970-0558.
  • Paratypes: CMNFI 1970-0558A (51).

Type locality: Qasemlou Chay, Orumiyeh [Urmia] Lake basin, ca. 37°21'N, 45°09'E, Azarbaijan-e Bakhtari, Iran.

Etymology: in honor of the late Petru Bănărescu (1921-2009), Institute of Biology, Bucharest, “a great freshwater ichthyologist who contributed significantly to our knowledge of fishes of Eurasia”. (From The ETYFish project)
