Име

Scleropages leichardti Günther, 1864

Type localtity: Burdekin River [490]

Etymology: The species is named after the Prussian naturalist and explorer Friedrich Wilhelm Ludwig Leichhardt (1813-ca.1848), who first purchased the catch and sent them out for identification.
