Description

This is a Red Knot (Calidris canutus) seen on Sea Island, GA. These birds are in peril of being extinct by 2010 as man has been over-harvesting the horseshoe crab eggs it needs as fuel to complete it's migration of up to 9,300 mi from its Arctic breeding grounds to southern South America.

The marine biologist who was with us seemed to think Sea Island was somewhat snotty.
