Townsendia parryi. Family: Asteraceae (commonly known as the aster, daisy, composite, or sunflower family). Occurs on sparsely vegetated soil of grasslands, sagebrush steppe, dry forest, and woodlands; valleys to rarely alpine zones. The size of the flower heads vary greatly. Many plants from the Bozeman area have small heads and could be mistaken for Townsendia florifer.
