A vine smothering small trees and shrubs, to c. 3 m tall, stems occasionally twining, often trailing or scrambling, becoming woody, coppery brown to grey, with numerous cream, raised lenticels, leaves 3-foliolate, rhombic, mid-green above, paler beneath. Racemes terminal, with 2-6 flowers, peduncle purplish, calyx pale green, flowers bright yellow, the standard with red-brown rays, a basal green eye, and heavily veined and mottled red-brown behind, the keel pale green, wings shorter than the keel. In dry, deciduous scrubland dominated by Alluaudia procera, Euphorbia and Mimosa delicatula.
