| Description |
Español: Loro Real (Amazona ochrocephala) alimentándose sobre uno de los árboles de la cuenca del río Albarregas, el cual atraviesa longitudinalmente la ciudad de Mérida. Diversas especies arbóreas en la cuenca, entre ellas el apamate (Tabebui rosea) y el araguaney (Handroanthus crysanthus), ofrecen frutos en forma de vaina, como el que vemos en las garras de esta ave, después de su floración. De modo que al valor estético de estos árboles, se suma el de ser fuente de alimentación para los animales. Quedan pocos loros reales en la cuenca del río Albarregas, el crecimiento de la ciudad amenaza su hábitat. |
