Summary
| Description |
hoary groundsel, Packera werneriifolia, California, White Mountains, Sheep Mountain, Fishlake Valley drainage, elevation 3613 m (11855 ft). This is a fairly common species of alpine and high subalpine environments in the interior western United States, from the Rocky Mountains southwestward to the Sierra Nevada and northern Arizona. Plants at the southern and western limits, like here, have been noted for their narrower leaves with rolled margins, which approach some forms of Packera cana, found nearby at lower elevations. But the species overall is so variable that no further taxonomic distinction is currently recognized for these plants. |
