Opuntia ×occidentalis—western prickly pear. A naturally occurring hybrid involving at least three parents: O. littoralis × (O. engelmannii × O. phaeacantha). For the record, Lyman Benson regarded the classification of O. occidentalis as a "will-o'-the-wisp" created by botanists and not a real taxon. Photographed at Regional Parks Botanic Garden located in Tilden Regional Park near Berkeley, CA.
