Two closely related Astragalus, A. hyalinus (where with tightly bunched trifoliolate leaves) and A. gilviflorus, both in the Orophaca group, inhabit the black sagebrush steppe in the Pryor Mountain region regardless of substrate or elevation (there they are on silty soils at the lower elevations in the Pryor Gap region).
