DescriptionAdelphoderia regina (13914668167).jpg
English: Adelphoderia regina
Original description on Flickr:
These were found in the Southern Forest of Tasmania at Airwalk Tahune. I also found them a month of so before at St. Columba Falls near Pyengana, Tasmana. A very beautiful springtail with an unusual neck organ thought to aid in oxygen exchange but only known in three genera and six species of Collembola worldwide. Except I also found another Adelphoderia species in Tasmania, making seven species! I'll post up photos soon.
The neck organ on the Tasmanian Spinothecidae are a lot thicker than the other two genera.
