- Acamptonectes densus Fischer, Maisch, Naish, Kosma, Liston, Joger, Pardo–Perez, Tainsh, Krüger & Appleby, 2012
- Голотип: GLAHM 132855 (The Hunterian Museum, University of Glasgow, Glasgow, UK), a partial adult skeleton, including fragmentary skull roof, mandible, axial skeleton and scapular girdle; Paratypes: SNHM 1284-R, NHMUK R11185.
- Типовая местность: Speeton area, North Yorkshire, UK.
- Etymology: From Greek ‘akamptos’ and ‘nektes’, which means rigid swimmer and from Latin ‘densus’, wich means compact, tightly packed. This binomial refers to the robust and tightly fitting bones of the occiput and to the tightly interlocking cervical and dorsal centra.
