Buttiauxella Ferragut et al. 1982, gen. nov.

Type species: B. agrestis
Ferragut et al. 1982 emend. Müller et al. 1996

The genus is named after René Buttiaux, a French microbiologist for his numerous contributions to the taxonomy of Enterobacteriaceae. Several species are named in honor of different microbiologists.
