  • Type locality: in the pasture, Orb near Regensburg (Germany)
  • Holotype: Lost.

Synonyms[edit]

Subjective synonyms[edit]

Notes[edit]

  • According to Koch (1842: 59-60), T. viburni has a chaetotaxy different from that of T. urticae and belongs to another group. The absence of "schulderborsten" is also reported by Thor (1933: 31).
  • The synonymy advanced by Pritchard & Baker (1955: 437) is rejected by André (2021: 1029) and the species is resurrected from synonymy.
  • Listed as ‘‘ancient species’’ by Kaźmierski (1998: 357).
  • Species not listed by Silva et al. (2016).

Discussion

  • The species has never been recorded since the original description. Tydeus viburni might be the old name of Tydeus goetzi since both mites are frequent on Viburnum André (2011: 77–80). The hypothesis was advanced by André (2021: 1031).
