Name[edit]

Diplecogaster tonstricula Fricke et al., 2015

  • Holotype: ZSM 40089
  • Paratypes: CCML uncat. (2); ZSM uncat. [ex. 40089] (5).

Type locality: Eastern Atlantic Ocean, Senegal, Dakar, 1.3 km southsouthwest of La Pointe des Almades, 14°43.806ʹN, 17°32.046ʹW, 28 m depth.

Etymology: Tonstricula (Latin) means little female barber. The name refers to the cleaning behaviour of the species.
