Holotype: NMNH, ♂.

Type locality: Tanzania, Iringa, Mufindi District, Uzungwa Scarp Forest Reserve, 8º30’S 35º52’W, 1515m, 3.iii.1996, J. Coddington, N. Scharff et al.

Etymology: The species epithet is a noun in apposition, after “The Dude” a character in the movie “The Big Lebowski” by Joel and Ethan Coen.
