Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

Hi there, I noticed that you're working on Nothobranchius furzeri. Please make sure that we almost always never include external links (but reference links are welcomed). Also, References go before Vernacular Names. Another thing I want to point out is that if you want to use an image in Wikispecies, it has to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons before it can be used here locally. Finally, if you have any questions, please drop me a message on my talk page. OhanaUnitedTalk page 16:00, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for getting back to me. You don't need to send an email to me AND leave a message on my talk page at the same time. I prefer if all discussions are on my talk page. I have changed something at family Nothobranchiidae [1]. Then I created a new template: {{Nothobranchiidae}} and changed the genus-level template {{Nothobranchius}} to include the new template to reflect your changes. I noticed that some genus are duplicated in Aplocheilidae and Nothobranchiidae. Could you go there and remove those that are not in correct family? Finally, whenever you write something in talk page, please add ~~~~ to the end of your message so that it is clearer who wrote the message. The "~" symbol can be found to the left of number "1" sign on most keyboards. And if you want to show links that are inside the same wiki, use the format [[link]] (that is... enclosing the name of the page by 2 square brackets in each side) OhanaUnitedTalk page 13:06, 16 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Also, keep in mind that Wikipedia is different from Wikispecies in terms of formatting. On Wikipedia, they generally use the word "Male" instead of the symbol "♂" (see how I corrected Nothobranchius furzeri. But in here, we use symbols instead of the word. Err... there's no "right" or "wrong" way, but lately, people use the talk page (aka discussion page) for remarks and explanations. By the way, if you want to add something to an existing section, please consider adding a colon (:) before your comments so that it automatically indents (as demonstrated in this passage) OhanaUnitedTalk page 12:48, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
