Welcome to Wikispecies!

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!

Welcome to wikispecies. I have some questions about your contributions Remihh. You have added a language for which there is no wikipedia, and I'm unsure what language you are adding. I believe if the language you speak is significant enough we can add it to Template:VN. We use that as a basis to compile, our Vernacular names section.

Could you give me a little bit of information about your language? How many people do speak it, and what is the official name of your language? If I get the information I will add it to our template, and you and others can add names to species in your language. Merci. --Kempm 19:16, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I'll add your language(s) to our templates. In case you want to add more :) --Kempm 19:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Créole martiniquais can be seen in Didelphis marsupialis
Créole guadeloupéen can be seen in Eretmochelys imbricata
Let me know if there was a mistake. If you want to add more local names please add it with the template :) --Kempm 19:49, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Convenience templates[edit]

Hi. Thanks for contributing. Please note that when multiple genera, species, subspecies, etc need to be listed, there are convenience templates to simplify things a little: Help:Taxonavigation section. For example, see this change to Holothele. On a separate note, for consistency, "Specie" and "== Name: ==" should instead be "Species" and "==Name==" as shown here. Thanks. --Georgeryp 18:05, 22 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
