Requests for Bot Work

[edit]

Hi,

As we briefly mentioned on IRC, we would like to ask you to use your bot skill and assist us in creating articles. Similar to Polbot, it will extract information from International Union of Conservation for Nature (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species http://www.iucnredlist.org/. If you want to build a bot from scratch, that is not a problem. On the other hand, you can consider modifying Polbot's code to satisfy Wikispecies formatting. Each url on the Red List has this formatting: http://www.iucnredlist.org/search/details.php/#/all. Only the # part changes

Unlike Wikipedia, Wikispecies focus on scientific information. You can compare this article on Wikispecies with Inezia caudata on Wikipedia for differences in formatting. (Actually, bot-creating an article should be easier on Wikispecies than on Wikipedia because we don't have information such as habitat, population distribution, etc.)

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:50, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply

Also, do you know how to build an interwiki link bot? We need them here. OhanaUnitedTalk page 06:23, 3 August 2008 (UTC)Reply
