Talk:Sylviorthorhynchus desmurii

There is an intense on-going debate on the correct name of this species: desmurii, as the protonym, vs desmursii as historically accepted. IOC, Zoonomen, Avibase, HBW and Birdlife International use desmurii while Clements and SACC use desmursii. This wiki follows IOC and it is not our attribution to decide a different way. IOC says: Sylviorthorhynchus desmurii Gay, 1845 "Correct original spelling. Zoonomen. Dickinson & Christidis, 2014." IOC 9.1. This name should stay until it is decided to go back to the historic name (or not) with desmursii as a synonym.--Hector Bottai (talk) 22:34, 21 April 2019 (UTC)
