What about reorganizing the Orchidaceae taxonomy to follow Genera Orchidacearum? Despite I do not personally agree with their genera divisions, which sometimes places morphology to a second (or third) level lumping too many diferent things together, I think it is the most updated system to classify tribes and subtribes of Orchidaceae above genera level. We see Schlechter's and Dressler' systems all over internet but, of course Schlechter is dead but Dressler himself does not uses his own system anymore as we have a more modern one now.

I may do it if you think it is a good idea. As the last volume is about to be released we may start with most primitive groups and leave the four lacking tribes of Epidendroideae as it is till the last book is is released.--Dalton Holland Baptista 15:39, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As you can see I and several others have modified Orchidaceae using World Checklist of Selected Plant Families (WCSP) Kew, Tropicos, IPNI, Genera Orchidacearum (vols 1-5) and other updates where available. The aim is to reduce paraphyly and simplify nomenclature as far as we can in light of the most current research and scientific consensus. A good example is circumscription of the tribes and sub-tribes of Epidendroideae. In addition, Alliances have been removed, as although useful for orchid breeding, they are not a recognised sub generic classification. I have not used many of the circumscriptions for Australasian orchids proposed by Jones, Clements and others in Orchadian, as seen on Wikipedia. Only those accepted by Kew and Genera Orchidacearum have been uploaded. By the way The Plant List, a parallel source to WCSP, has .csv files which can help considerably when adding species information. Although this will need cross checking with WCSP and other sources as it lags a few months behind. I hope these changes meet with approval and trust others use these sources to contribute information at the generic and species level where there is still much work to be done!
