Anderberg et al., besides separating Maesa in its own family Maesaceae, redefine the scope of Myrsinaceae and Primulaceae. This needs reviewing by someone with access to the actual paper. See review by James L. Reveal at [1] see;

  • Anderberg, A.A., Zhang, X., & Källersjö, M. (2000) Maesaceae, a new primuloid family in the order Ericales s.l. Taxon 49: 183-187.

The consensus is now to subsume Myrsinaceae, Maesaceae and Theophrastaceae into Primulaceae s.l. see updated APGIII website, (Stevens, P.F.: (2001 onwards). Angiosperm Phylogeny Website. Version 12, July 2012. [2]) for details and references. See also list of genera for Primulaceae on the Plant List [3]. Reveal's review has been taken down I believe so can not comment.
