Allan et al., (2003), Degtjareva et al., (2006 & 2008), Sokoloff (2003) and Sokoloff, & Lock, (2005) provide evidence for the synonymy over, including the genera Dorycnium and Tetragonolobus. However the required transfers have not been formally made for Dorycnium and indeed there poor consensus as regards its species circumscription. The taxon page for remains for Dorycnium until there is more clarity. In addition, combinations have been transferred to the New World genera; Acmispon, Hosackia, Ottleya and Syrmatium by the above authors and Brouillet (2008). However, Lotus s.l. is still commonly encountered {Tropicos, 2016). The species list here now reflects the transfer of the North American combinations. Andyboorman (talk) 18:21, 9 November 2016 (UTC)
