[edit] About

Homo floresiensis was found on Flores, an Indonesian island known for early human settlement. Homo floresiensis, also nicknamed "the hobbit", was about one meter tall and was probably equally intelligent as our ancestors, as evidence of tools was found in the archaeological site where the specimens of Homo floresiensis were found. It is theorized that they survived until up to 18,000 years ago, eight thousand years more than the Homo neanderthalensis who died out about 26,000 years ago.

[edit] Controversies

The most recent hypothesis put forward is that the skeletons found were from cretinous individuals who suffered from iodine deficiencies in the womb
