Possible correct name, confusion with Gastón Guzmán Huerta[edit]

According to IPNI this is somehow another name for the Mexican mycologist Gastón Guzmán Huerta, and therefore the birth date is wrong. But to me this has possible red flags of conflation: apart from the different second Spanish family name (Huerta vs Grimaldi) and different birth year (1932 vs 1938), Guzmán Huerta's work address was in Mexico while Guzmán Grimaldi's work address is/was Chile, and Guzmán Huerta has not otherwise published anything on lichens (Wikipedia states him to be an authority on Psilocybe, a genus of mushrooms). Lastly, the 1988 publication does not actually give "Gastón" as the first name at all, just "G.", as far as I know the first name "Gastón" may have been copied from some online databases e.g. [1]. I suspect this first name might actually be "Gerardo", as "Gerardo Guzmán" is mentioned in some issues of International Lichenological Newsletter archived online, e.g.: [2] (p. 7) [3] (p. 17)

As it happens, Pseudocyphellaria guzmanii D.J.Galloway 1992 appears to be named after Gerardo Guzmán, not Gastón Guzmán Huerta, according to the original publication (viewable online through Google Books but in snippet view only). Monster Iestyn (talk) 16:21, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
