There is considerable documented evidence that this hybrid is of artificial origin having been bred in 1923 from its parents by J.C. Williams owner of Caerhays Estate, Cornwall, England. The original plants still survive History of the Williamsii Camellia. Reports exist in the horticultural literature of the time, but somebody will need to source these. These two are later garden books; Rowell, Raymond J. (1980) Ornamental Flowering Shrubs in Australia, Australia: AH & AW Reed Pty Ltd. ISBN 0589501771 and RHS (2008) RHS A-Z encyclopedia of garden plants, United Kingdom: Dorling Kindersley. p. 1136. and therefore are less robust. Andyboorman (talk) 11:15, 28 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
