Taxonomic Notes in Witt, T.J. & L.Ronkay, 2011: Lymantriinae and Arctiinae - Including Phylogeny and Check List of the Quadrifid Noctuoidea of Europe. Noctuidae Europaeae Volume 13: 1-448. The content of the tribe is still disputed, due to the most recent, basically molecular taxonomic results. These results suggest changes in the placement of certain generic groups in comparison with the last published Palaearctic checklist (Dubatolov 2010). Thus, the Ocnogyna-Phragmatobia generic group is treated here in the subtribe Arctiina; it apears to belong to the clade treated by Dubatolov (op. cit.) as Micrarctiini Seitz, 1910. This latter suprageneric taxon is not distinguished here from the subtribe Arctiina, though the further investigations may confirm the subtribal rank divergence of the two large clades. On the other hand, the Diacrisa-Rhyparia generic group, which is traditionally placed into the subtribe Arctiina, shows a close relationship with the Spilarctia-Spilosoma complex, therefore, these three genera are discussid here within the subtribe Spilosomatina.
