Notes

• Sphenantha Schrad. (and the species Sphenantha scabra Schrad.) is often regarded as synonymous to Cucurbita, but according to McVaugh & Anderson (1983) is is not a representative of the Cucurbitaceae. The position of Sphenantha scandens Steud. is also unclear.
