Synonyms[edit]

  • Basionym
    • Zonaria naevosa Suhr, 1834
      • Type locality: Algoa Bay, Cape Province, South Africa.
      • Lectotype: S s.n. - According to Algaebase, De Clerck (2003: 183) designated a specimen from S as lectotype, as the main collection in B is destroyed and KIEL does not contain any specimens of Z. naevosa, annotated by Suhr. Although the specimen in S does not correspond with Suhr's original drawing, it is annotated by Suhr and matches the protologue completely. According to Womersley (1987: 192), the type was collected by Ecklon and it may be located in LD.
