Oversight, also called Suppression, is the term used to describe the removal of certain information from public view. Such information includes, but is not limited to, non-public personal information, potentially libellous information, blatant attack names, and copyright violations.
The name oversight itself is derived from the Oversight extension, now deprecated in favour of the revision deletion feature available directly in the MediaWiki software.
