Welcome to Wikispecies!

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:

If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.

If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.

Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome! -- Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 07:43, 26 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Language versions of Wikimedia projects

[edit]

Hello Zinnober9. Though not strictly necessary, you might want to point out on your (multilingual) Wikispecies user page that you fix syntax issues on the English Wikipedia and was earlier made a temporary administrator on English Wikivoyage, rather than on any of the 341 other language versions of Wikipedia, or 26 other (active) Wikivoyage language versions. Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 14:47, 26 May 2025 (UTC).Reply

Even though I have it linked to the English sites, it's good to be upfront and clear about it also. Updated, thank you. Zinnober9 (talk) 00:20, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

Theres also a Wikispecies userbox which you can use on the English Wikipedia, located at en:Template:User admin Wikispecies.

If you have a Meta Wiki user page, you can put the Wikispecies admin user box for Meta on your Meta-Wiki user page.

Please note!

[edit]

Per your request, you have only been granted a one-month temporary adminship. It will expire automatically in July 3, 2025, at 15:02 (UTC).

Background color issues...

[edit]

https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:LintErrors/night-mode-unaware-background-color?wpNamespaceRestrictions=8&titlecategorysearch=&exactmatch=1&tag=all&template=all

I cant edit these directly but typically what needs to be added is color:var(--color-base-fixed,#202122; alongside the background-color lines. Given these are in Mediawiki space, they won't show up as being transcluded even when present on a lot of pages. Is these are fixed a lot of items in this lint category might be fixed very quickly :) ShakespeareFan00 (talk) 06:56, 11 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks, but my position on this type has not changed. I think there are too many unknowns on this type for me and I don't feel there's a clear and agreed upon method of correcting these at this time. The current stance on these on enwiki is to ignore fixing them for now (last bullet point and discussion). Zinnober9 (talk) 18:05, 11 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
@ShakespeareFan00 and Zinnober9: A small but interesting topic (and links). I will monitor this issue as it progresses on enWP and most likely also on Meta- and MediaWiki. Thank you both. –Tommy Kronkvist (talk)‚ 19:25, 11 June 2025 (UTC).Reply

Your edit was reverted

[edit]

Hello again. Please have a look at this diff, where your edit of a user talk page was reverted by the user (they included a reason in their edit summary). –Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 09:05, 12 June 2025 (UTC).Reply

Thanks, hadn't spotted that yet, but wouldn't have been too long since the page reappeared on Special:LintErrors/stripped-tag. The template documentation for Blockquote specifically states the template can't be indented, and it causes a stripped div error when it is indented and displays following content incorrectly. I'm reminded of Talk quote block though, which is used for that situation and is cleanly indentable, so will swap to that. Zinnober9 (talk) 14:11, 12 June 2025 (UTC)Reply
