Add topicWelcome to Wikispecies!
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikispecies! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages you might like to see:
- Help:Contents provides a good introduction to editing Wikispecies.
- Templates are there to help you to follow our syntax and formatting standards.
- Have a look at Done and to do.
If you have named a taxon, then it is likely that there is (or will be) a Wikispecies page about you, and other pages about your published papers. Please see our advice and guidance for taxon authors.
If you have useful images to contribute to Wikispecies, please upload them at Wikimedia Commons. This is also true for video or audio files containing bird songs, whale vocalization, etc.
Please sign your comments on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your username (if you're logged in) and the date. Please also read the Wikispecies policy What Wikispecies is not. If you need help, ask me on my talk page, or in the Village Pump. Again, welcome!
We use the template {{Vn}} for vernacular names. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:36, 17 April 2025 (UTC)
Author of Carinotetraodon travancoricus
[edit]Thank you for adding Sunder Lal Hora as author for Carinotetraodon travancoricus, and for making me aware that the data for author "K.K. Nair" was missing. I did some digging and found K. Krishnan Nair, adding it and primary references to the above mentioned taxon page. Again thanks – and of course your efforts regarding other author names are also very welcome! –Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 10:45, 18 May 2025 (UTC).

Eponymy of Torquigener andersonae
[edit]Hello again. Thank you for creating the Torquigener andersonae taxon page. I've added primary references and some other data – including the eponym, as you requested. However, the eponymist doesn't (yet?) have a Wikispecies page, hence their name was added without a link. Nonetheless I cited the source: it may come in handy for your future page creations! –Best regards, Tommy Kronkvist (talk), 17:05, 24 May 2025 (UTC).
- Thanks again. Remis4000 (talk) 03:26, 25 May 2025 (UTC)
Journal citation template
[edit]You can now use {{Cite journal}} to format citations; as I did here.
It's not required, but you may find it easier, and it has serval advantages for reusability.
The template page has more details. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 14:44, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know, i do find the old template easier but i might learn cite journal. Remis4000 (talk) 14:47, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Taxonavigation templates for genera
[edit]Hello Remis4000, for creating taxonavigation templates for genera you can use the template gbr (e.g. like I did in Template:Lepidophanes). This does the correct formatting of the genus name in italics and includes the line break. For family templates, there is also a template fbr. Kind regards, Thiotrix (talk) 08:56, 4 July 2025 (UTC)
- I will keep that in mind, thank you. Remis4000 (talk) 15:03, 7 July 2025 (UTC)
